AI Photography on The P20 and P20 Pro

AI Photography on The P20 and P20 Pro

Huawei has really made the spot ,for the number one  phone, really tight. It has given the major players in the game a run for their money with the release of their top tier phones the Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 PRO. The DxOMark ranking is incredible .The most notable change in this devices is the immense effort put into making its camera a delight. This comes as no surprise from a company that spends €10.4 billion on Research and Development, surpassing even apple in this respect. All these efforts was not waste as its phones have been rubbing shoulders with even top of the line phones  so, dear reader ,who thinks Huawei was probably made in a farmhouse in china ,wake up! Now, what makes the P20 and P20 pro special? It seems Huawei  prepared well for a lot of AI functions , it runs the Kirin 970 with dedicated NPU(Its basically and special design chip that enhances the performance of AI Software) ,which in terms of benchmarks crushes QUALCOMM and APPLE, but we all know  ,it’s not always what you see is what you get. The AI on this thing is madness! Ever heard of OIS (Optical Image Stabilization)? Well if you have you are one of those people who cares how they get nice pictures from their cameras. Anyway for the sake of those who don’t know (I recently found out), OIS is a mechanism used to stabilize recorded video or pictures by varying the optical sensor path and guess what Huawei just gave us newer (better) way of stabilization, AIS(AI image Stabilization) .This is not entirely new as a similar system was implemented in the Mate 10 PRO but it proved quite inefficient as it recognized only few scenarios but Huawei has done their homework and added over 500 scenarios across 19 categories! What the AIS does is quite amazing, it uses various algorithms to detect and counteract every shaky movement on a frame to frame basis. It eliminates the need to waiting a long period (waiting for a clear picture to form) during night shots.

Along with the AIS, this would have been aided by the camera’s maximum ISO sensitivity of 102400 (the same as a Canon 5D Mark IV DSLR.) For comparison, the iPhone X’s maximum is 6400.and feature Huawei is calling ‘4D Predictive Focus’ uses AI to keep track of objects in motion and where they’re heading to predict where it needs to focus next for the best shots. I am just saying why not ditch you camera and buy this phone? Tell me in the Comment section. Frankly I knew of a lot applications of AI (Classic Textbook stuff) but Huawei blew my hats off!!
